The Knipp is always worth a detour. German home cooking at a low price. After lockdown we stop by and taste the dumplings.
Once again, great hospitality. Very tasty food and a nice crowd, just a great atmosphere.
A must for Aacheners !! Families have always operated with wonderful Öcher charm. Delicious beer, delicious food and Hinz and Kunz of the Aachen upper class. Please always make a reservation and just let yourself be carried away by the flair. It is best to place it at the counter after dinner and enjoy one or two “beers”. In my opinion Aachen's best draft beer.
Lovely place!
Always very happy to come, food, service and team just great! and, this is where I met my husband a long time ago.
Nice and authentic place with a tasty but limited menu. Not too expensive. Just had to exercise some patience but there was a lot of people.
Superschnitzel with pepper sauce as big as a plate. What joy to eat and great taste. Loved the ambiance which is quite unique and warm. In summer the garden is a wondrrful.place to eat and sit. Staff were really friendly. Just wished they had had better decaf and that the coffee milk had not gone off.
Top quality at fair prices and it also tastes very good. The staff is friendly too. What more do you want?
Amazing, delicious food and super friendly service. A must!
Great service, fast service and a great offer. Food tasted very good.
Excellent food!!
Excellent food in a glorious ambience and friendly welcoming service. Best restaurant in Aachen
If you want to have a beer with really nice people in Aachen, then you don't have many alternatives to Knipp. You just have to know and enjoy.
Really nice ambience and food
For the first time I ordered a table for 2 people from Mr. Ramrath. Everything very friendly. When we came on Wednesday it was badly thunderstorm. We could move into the restaurant. The food was excellent, the service very friendly. Was were very satisfied and didn't feel any preference from regular guests.
A little slower service, otherwise everything was OK. Environment typically German. Attention! They serve beer after 2dcl, almost like our brandy.
Great garden with attentive and friendly service. Very good food and of course top beer. Cellar beer from Bitburger. Always like to come back here.
Food was too salty. In addition, slow operation. Nice interior.
Not only was the attentive staff a total hit during our visit, but also the good atmosphere. The local is easy to reach! The convenient transport connections make a visit quickly feasible. The food was not the only thing that makes people look wide at this inn! In fact, I really enjoy trying out new places and I'm looking for new places around the clock, but I will stay with this place, and we were completely pleasantly surprised. We will come back in any case.
Top tent. The reason for an evening dinner in Aachen! Delicious German food, nice service and good specials. I'm going again soon
Reasonable restaurant, Schnitzel was fine. A bit old-fashioned, but that is sometimes fun.
Typical setting and local cuisine at the rendezvous. And a treat on the plate although the service can sometimes be a bit long! I recommend with your eyes closed!
Top food, top service, reasonable waiting times. Very nice, old-fashioned atmosphere in this long-established pub. Definitely worth a visit if you like home-cooked food.
Great as always! Warm, friendly, family atmosphere. The service and food were excellent!
Love their traditional German food so much
Excellent food. Classic German dishes. The staff is friendly. Very nice atmosphere. Family friendly. Nice Weiss beer and house wine!
Stayed here with a group of 18 people. All eaten and drunk well. Service super friendly and personal. This is still a really privately run restaurant with a customer focus without being pushy. Good food for normal prices.
Food was amazing, 5/5. Only the service could be a bit better. Friendly people but got the feeling you got pushed out so they could serve other people. It was Christmas market though, so very busy. Got no reply on my reservation e-mail.
Awesome bar with really good food. Bussy place with a real authentic feel.

Oldest tavern, very nice place
A warm, family owned place, with good beer and great schnitzel!
Nice schnitzel and friendly waiters
A typical German restaurant with a beautiful interior and with typical German cuisine. I do not really like German cuisine, but here is really delicious. The menu is small, hot food selection up to 10 pieces. Therefore, bring them very quickly, much in the blanks. usually everyone takes wheat or, with champignon sauce, very tasty. In portions two schnitzel, sauce, fried potatoes and salad. Very satisfying. The price is 17 euros, higher than the average in the city, but the food is delicious. For the summer, an excellent summer courtyard opens up for another 120 seats, and it is also very nice to sit there. Beer is delicious. The waiters are nice. The interior is also very beautiful, like a museum. I advise you to drive there foreign guests at least :)
Good German restaurant. Very well known place.
Nice welcome of the female, clean and fixed service in a nice, Aachener local restaurant. The place for 14 people was reserved, otherwise it would have been scarce, because the restaurant with the Couvenstube was pop! Nevertheless, the drink was quickly absorbed and quickly available. The food as well afterwards. It was brought by two people who had the overview. The location was proper, very rustic-historical furnishings. Lots of wood, tiles, pictures, pitchers, stove plates, etc. Nevertheless, everything was well cleaned and maintained. Likewise, the toilets, thank God for allergy sufferers without toxic, chemical stink substances (room fragrance, etc.) got along. I do not know if the toilet is wheelchair accessible, because the door was very narrow including the toilet room behind it. The tables were finished and very simple, but neatly set, no disturbing Klimbim. Charlemagne in the window with the deco of the restaurant is also sufficient with candles and napkins, in order to work harmoniously and not overburdening as a whole picture. Positive: The restaurant is run as a multi-generational family business and does not belong to any dubious chains. A backyard, also lovingly furnished is the "open air smoking room". With tables and chairs, flowers and stone walls it looks like in small Italia during warmer times. Unfortunately, but then the window of the actual restaurant with Couven-Gastraum must remain there but then closed door and window. But that is the only criticism! Especially surprising and very nice was the farewell with greetings to us Nordhessen a black canvas bag with yellow print "Am Knipp, Aachen", which was presented by the house. A great gesture and useful in times of disgusting plastic and chemical extremism delusion. The food was delicious by all 14 people, appealing and friendly served and very tasty. CONCLUSION: WE COME AGAIN! ... Just because of the roast goulash (picture 1) with gingerbread-spiced sauce, in addition a mashed potato with red cabbage and applesauce: a poem! (even if the red cabbage was missing today!). Picture 2 Champignon cream sauce schnitzel, salad, top-fine fried potatoes, picture 3 like picture 2, only pepper cream sauce! Thank you, for a great evening with warm regards from Wettesingen in the beautiful North Hesse by the cone siblings "CRAZY PUDELS". ;)
Over 300years, the family is still running the home restaurant! What makes it still standing there as it used to be. There must be something is in there beyond to service, to make food, to enjoy what he/she is doing

Great schnitzel, friendly service, cozy atmosphere
Very good local food! Reservations are a must.
Legendary restaurant!
I love this restaurant..
On Sunday try the off-menu spare ribs.
After a so so culinary tour in the urban center of Aachen we planned to have a dinner at Am Knipp. Obviously my colleague has checked the reviews for this restaurant, but made the mistake to check the wrong sites. Actually I was very disappointing about some key things that bordered me at this location. First we had to wait ridiculously long before we could order a drink, there was nothing like bread or any other appetizer; we had to ask for this explicitly. Proceeding to the starters the order made a mistake in the requested menu, and when she found out she actually pushed us to take the wrong dish. Same was applicable for the main dish. Once that was consumed she pushed my colleagues to have a desert, which they did not want but took anyway because of this pressure. The food was of poor quality, especially the meat and the vegetables. I recommend no one to go out for diner in this location. If I would have been alone I would have walked away. This business should be ashamed to handle customers like this. There are many nice places to have diner in Aachen, and this is definitely not one of them. 1 of 5 stars for the effort.
Very old school, I like it
It was a nice meal with super friendly service and nice atmosphere. The food was a bit too salty and for rest excellent experience
Delicious food.
Cool
Best steak I ever had in my life. I ordered the beef steak with the special sauce that I can't remember the name of. The steak was tender and fresh coming with potato on the side. A very friendly staff and they recommended Bitburger beer which was awesome. The atmosphere was also great.
Service was slow, staff was friendly and spoke English very well. Food was very good. Patrons we're very friendly too
